Our Life and New Home

Keep up with our life and see the new house.

Time to start planning – Jonny Apple Seed

Here is our plot layout:

I know it’s a little hard to see but you get the idea.  Well we have to start planning our landscaping because we have a large yard with a lot of dirt.  A lot of dirt equals a lot of mud.  Lot of mud and new carpet…you see how this is adding up.  So the plan is to do some basic landscaping before we can move into the house.  Once spring starts we will add some trees and plants but until then I do want to put rock and a dog run.  Once I have something on paper I will post it.

We have a problem Houston

We found a problem today.  The Kiva fireplace should have a stepped facade and this is what we have:

Not a big deal according to the builder they just have to reface the fireplace.

Why did we get a flat roof?

Happy New Year!

Well I guess we don’t get a lot of these type of storms but having a flat roof is going to have a few of it’s draw backs.  Well we have dry wall up and hopefully the construction will go faster now because they are going to be working on the inside and weather shouldn’t cause too many problems.

Looking into the entry room with Steff in the kitchen in the backgroung.

The Den and the kiva fireplace.

Going up the stairs

Don’t we live in the desert

Everyone who knows me know that anything below 75 degrees sucks.  Well take a look at these pictures.

This is only the beginning of the storm.

Looking up the street.

Needless to say Trey doesn’t like snow.

Finally a smile.  Well the final total was about 17 inches of snow, some parts of the city got up to 20 inches.

Just 11 Days

No need for this anymore.

We sold the house!  I just took 11 day on the market and the house sold.  Also we don’t have to move out until March 15th.

Here’s the story. The buyers are the couple that we showed the house to when we were putting up Christmas lights.  They drove up and asked if they could see the house the day after we put the house up on the market.

Good Wood

P1000046, originally uploaded by soccerlazkru.

Her are the latest pictures taken on 12/26/06. Trey love to pat the wood in the house I thought I would post a picture of the corner of the patio.

Insulation is in.

The T&G is in and more insulation on the eastern wall of the house.  Also corrected in this room was the location of the second cable drop.  We need a second cable drop for our DVR but they had placed it on the eastern wall so during our pre-drywall walk-thru we asked that it be moved to the location where we plan to have our TV.  We also forgot to add a phone drop by the TV for the DirecTV so we are going to have to run a line when we move in or find some kind of wireless system for the phone.  I don’t even know if they make a cordless attachment for TV boxes.

2nd big mistake that had to be corrected was the tub.  The garden tub has been replaced and the jetted tub is now in.

Forgive the picture…auto focus my A**.  The 3rd problem fixed was the second shower head.  we have a shower head mounted on the top of the master shower stall which was not plumbed but has since been added.  All seems to be going well.

Our MLS listing

We put the house on the market this weekend. On Saturday Jim came by to finalize the paperwork and officially list the house. In the time it took him to get from our house to his house he had to calls on the house and he scheduled a walk-thru for Wednesday. Pretty impressed, since that had to be from the sign only. Then on Sunday while putting up Christmas light we had someone stop by and ask to see the house.

This process is going faster and smother then expected.

Some Pictures of the Interior

I’ve been asked to show some pictures of the interior so here goes.

From the kitchen looking into the living room.  We are looking past a solid wall but you get the idea.

Our kiva fire place in the living room.

Christmas Fun

It’s been a while

P1010468, originally uploaded by soccerlazkru.

I haven’t posted anything for a few days. Well I didn’t have a camera and I wasn’t able to get to the house during the daylight. Well today is Sunday and my Broncos are getting their a** kicked by San Diego so I thought I would leave my pain at the house and check out the new construction.

Well the first thing I noticed is this ouchy on the front of the house.

Its sort hard to see in this picture but it’s a broken wall board in the front of the house by the garage entrance.

The next problem I found is that the bath tub in the master bedroom is the wrong tub.

This should be a jetted tub.  This is actually not a real problem, it could be a blessing in disguise because when we have are drywall walk-thru we can point this out and it will delay the construction.  Any delays are welcome.

Well enough with the negative.  We did get to meet some of our neighbors.  2 house to the east of us is a couple named Jason and Shawana.  Jason works for the fire department and Shawana is pregant, due on Christmas.  Their neighbors to the east of them is a couple, Steve and Rose.  They have a to girls one about 5 and their little one is 2 months.  I also met the neighbor accross the street to the west of us.  His name is John and he has a boy who looked about 10 or 11.  We also met another neighbor last week who has a little boy about 10 months so in the neighborhood Trey is going to have lots of friends to grow-up with.  Well enought for now more later.
